Dog portraits and drawings
We don‘t own a dog due to circumstances, but we did have dogs when I was a child. Always, always such faithfull companions, who never failed to be pleased to see you come home.
Dogs are such fun to draw, as they come in all shapes and sizes, coats and colours. I do have my favourites, not in a drawing sense, but as breeds, which include Labradors, Beagles and German Shepherds, oh and I‘m quite fond of Jack Russells.
Below is a selection of faithful dog portraits, some are commissions, others I just drew as I liked the image, and thought they would make nice drawings.
If you would like a commission of your faithfull dog, or would like one doing as a gift for a loved one or friend, please visit my Commission page for more details on pricing and ordering.
Large drawing (commission) of 4 Labradors that had been owned by the clients Father over the years. I had a mixture of ref photos to draw this from, some were digital, others were traditional 35mm film prints. This was drawn on a slightly larger than A2 size sheet of Bristol Board. Was great fun to do, trying to capture the characters of each individual dog.
Commission drawing of a Beagle called Gus. Drawn on Bristol Board, image size is approx 6 inch wide by 7 inch tall. The drawing from start to finish took just under 12 hours. Drawing is based on reference photos supplied by the client.
Drawing of a shooter with his trusty team, a Labrador and Spaniel. Print is available on the prints page as the original is sold.
